FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

February 1, 2007

A new look. There is a new look to the Pittsburg Police Vehicles. We added a Dodge Charger to the fleet and changed the graphics. The Charger was about $1,000 cheaper than the traditional Crown Victoria and it out performed all other vehicles during the Michigan State Police study last year. The vendor we used to purchase graphics from would not give us a bid on graphics for a Dodge and it was time to change. Studies by the Justice Department have shown that after 5-7 years officer presence is diminished because people get accustomed to seeing the same thing so the graphics should be changed to increase visibility. It works; we have received a lot of positive comments regarding the change. The change in the graphics was funded by drug seizure money so there was no additional cost to the tax payers.
